AfriSam’s high quality cement has made a significant contribution to various infrastructural developments in the southern African community for over three quarters of a century.

From our factories at Ulco in the Northern Cape and Dudfield in North West Province, AfriSam cement is shipped to grinding and blending plants as well as depots across southern Africa.

The final product is used in the provision of houses, schools, roads, dams and other essential facilities for local communities.

Our cement is produced through an intricate process that is carefully designed and controlled by a team of dedicated professionals. The performance of our cement is constantly monitored to maintain the highest standards of quality and strength.

We produce approximately four million tons of cement per annum from our five ISO 9001 certified cement production facilities spread throughout a number of provinces in South Africa.

We have introduced an industry-first carbon footprint rating stamp, which is printed on every bag of cement that we produce. Updated twice annually, this indicates the CO2 associated with the production of every kg of cement from each and every plant relative to the world average of 890g/kg as per Cembureau.

We are constantly reviewing and improving our production processes to ensure optimal efficiency, with the lowest possible impact on the environment.

Products
We produce four types of cements which are uniquely developed for different applications:

  Eco building cement
Is a blend of high performance cement and reactive mineral components with excellent cementitious properties. This cement has a Carbon Footprint half that of the world average as defined by the World Resources institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Not only is it gentler on the planet, it provides a smooth, defect-free finish for concrete, masonry and plaster work. It also provides long term strength and enhanced workability, is remarkably durable and suitable for aggressive conditions.

  High strength cement
Is generally used in brick- and block-making, reservoirs, precast operations, structural concrete, shotcrete and mining operations. The strength development of this cement makes it ideal for use in specialized applications.

  Rapid hard cement
Is ideal for use in the precast concrete industry, where quicker demoulding times are required as well as for fast-track construction projects to facilitate earlier stripping of formwork and earlier bridge launching or higher sliding rates. This type of cement is perfect for use in cold weather conditions due to its rapid hydration rate.
